Missing Covid-19 data did not affect lockdown decisions, Hancock argues

Data on more than 15,000 coronavirus cases were not passed to contact tracing staff

UK health minister Matt Hancock moved to minimise the impact of an embarrassing technical glitch in the government’s Covid-19 data, which left over 15,000 positive test results missing from official totals.

The government’s analysis of the severity of the UK coronavirus epidemic has “not substantially changed” in light of the newly-reported cases, Hancock told Parliament on 5 October.
