Merrill Lynch Investment Managers' (MLIM) flagship gold fund is set to end 2002 as the top performing unit trust in the UK.

A return of 78.1% in the 12 months to December 16, 2002, places the Merrill Lynch Gold & General fund first out of 1,945 unit trusts and open-ended investment companies (OEICS) in the UK.
