Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) is seeking to raise up to $500m (e510m) for its new UK equity long/short fund managed by Steve Thompson.

The fund manages $40m and has produced a positive return of 7% net of fees in its first three months of trading, compared with a fall in the FTSE All Share index of 15%.
