Eton-educated, chum of Lord Mayor Boris Johnson, breeder of prize-winning horses…Mark Aedy’s latest recruit at Moelis & Company is not your average car salesman. But in an investment banking career that spans more than 20 years, industrials banker Meyrick Cox has bought and sold some of the biggest auto companies in the world.
As global head of auto and steel at Rothschild, Cox recently advised Chinese carmaker Geely on its $1.5bn (€1.1bn) acquisition of Swedish marque Volvo. Other recent highlights include advising private equity group CVC on its 2006 acquisition of Formula One, and Tata Steel on its purchase of rival Corus in 2006.
