Moelis & Co is big winner in restructuring

Big name hires pay off as independent adviser climbs the league tables in 2010 while Lazard holds on to number one spot

Moelis & Company, the independent advisory firm set up by former UBS rainmaker Ken Moelis in 2007, has emerged as one of the big winners in the global restructuring league tables, after investing heavily in the business.

Moelis has worked on 22 deals globally worth a combined $54bn so far this year - double the number of deals for the whole of 2009 and more than double the $23.8bn of debt it helped restructure last year, according to Thomson Reuters.
