Moody’s downgrades China for first time in nearly 30 years

Country's outlook shifts from stable to negative

Moody’s downgrades China for first time in nearly 30 years

The ratings agency Moody's Investor Services has cut China's sovereign credit rating for the first time since the late 1980s, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Moody's cited its expectation that the country's debt pile will keep rising while its economy slows. China has been downgraded to A1 from Aa3, with its outlook has shifted from stable to negative.
