Moody's plays down German banking crisis

Dresdner's credit rating outlook changed to negative

Moody's, the ratings agency, has maintained its negative outlook on the German banking sector but says that it does not expect a systemic crisis.

Sellside analysts warn that German banks' poor profitability, exemplified by recent results from Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, HVB Group and Dresdner Bank, can no longer be underpinned by hidden reserves because they have been depleted.
