The coronavirus outbreak has sent shockwaves through financial markets, leading to a rapid fall in major indices, followed by record moves in asset prices and widening spreads, impacting liquidity formation at a time when the ability to liquidate positions to meet increased fund redemptions was critical.

To add to the complexity, asset managers had to rapidly adjust to the changing market conditions while trading teams were relocating to home offices and working remotely.
