Morgan Stanley has promoted 184 people to the coveted role of managing director, with women comprising nearly 40% of those to make the cut — the largest proportion ever.

The number of those promoted was down slightly on the 199 new managing directors in 2022, which was the biggest number for a decade. Morgan Stanley has cut jobs in recent months, like most of its rivals, and investment banks have promoted fewer new MDs this year.
