Morgan Stanley recruits former Chi-X pioneer

New hire will lead the US investment bank's international clearing project

Scott Riley, an important figure in the creation of the successful alternative trading venue Chi-X Europe, has joined Morgan Stanley to lead a new post-trade project at the investment bank’s electronic trading unit.

Riley joined Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading in London as an executive director last week and will lead a new international clearing initiative designed to complement its electronic trading platform, according to a source at the bank. Clearing is the process that mitigates the risk between two trading counterparties.
