Morgan Stanley loses capital markets head to HSBC shake-up

HSBC has hired Daniel Palmer, another banker from Morgan Stanley, as global head of equity capital markets team as it becomes the latest bank to combine debt and equity origination.

Palmer was co-head of global capital markets, Asia-Pacific, at Morgan Stanley and before that was head of equity-linked origination in London. From next month at HSBC he will be based in Hong Kong. Russell Julius, who joined HSBC two-and-a-half years ago from ING as global head of ECM, will stay on reporting to Palmer, according to the bank.
