Morgan Stanley poised to advise Philips

The door is open for Morgan Stanley to act as advisor for Royal Philips Electronics as the European consumer electronics company considers an alliance or merger with a large international telecoms company.

Philips used its own internal financial advisers for the restructuring of its mobile phone business, announced Tuesday. Jan Hommen, chief financial officer, has said that the company is still open to alliances and joint ventures in the near future.
