Morgan Stanley has recruited the former chief of Merrill Lynch's private client division in Europe and Asia as its head head of sales and marketing in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Ausaf Abbas, who left Merrill last year, will co-ordinate Morgan Stanley's team of advisers and report to Alexander Classen, overall head of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
