Morgan Stanley tops European corporate bond league table

Morgan Stanley Dean Witter took more European companies to the international bond markets during 2000 than any other underwriter, according to preliminary data released by financial information provider CapitalData Bondware.

The US securities firm nudged ahead of eurozone heavyweight Deutsche Bank thanks to a spree of multi-billion dollar deals by European telecommunications companies. The telecoms firms were attempting to finance the purchase of high-speed mobile phone licences.
