James Gorman made $37m for his work in 2023, the last year of his 14-year tenure as CEO of Morgan Stanley.

That is his biggest pay package from the bank, and is up from $31.5m in 2022. The pay in part reflects his role in the CEO succession process — the new chief, Morgan Stanley lifer Ted Pick, took over on 1 January — and the retention of top executives Andy Saperstein and Dan Simkowitz, who were also in the running for the top seat.
