Move into institutional arena pays dividends for Artemis

Boutique of the Year – Artemis. Adding to the retail and alternatives businesses has put the company on a more secure footing

Artemis Investment Management has doubled its assets under management over the past 18 months – making it the Financial News boutique investment firm of the year.

The Edinburgh and London-based firm was set up in 1997 by four ex-Ivory & Sime managers, Mark Tyndall, John Dodd, Derek Stuart and Lindsay Whitelaw. In 2002, it merged with the unit trust business of Dutch bank ABN Amro. Over the past year, Artemis has added institutional funds to its retail business and a small but profitable alternatives arm that encompasses hedge funds, venture-capital trusts and investment trusts.
