Companies in the UK should have a new legal duty imposed on them to combat sexual harassment in the workplace, according to a group of MPs investigating the issue — and it should be an offence to “misuse” gagging orders to silence complainants.

The UK Parliament’s Women and Equalities Committee, chaired by Conservative MP Maria Miller, made the calls on July 25 in a hard-hitting report that said harassment was “widespread and commonplace”.
