MPs renew calls for full Big Four audit break-up

Business committee goes further than the partial split the CMA has already proposed

An influential group of MPs has called on the government’s Competition and Markets Authority to push for a full break-up of the Big Four auditors — going further than the partial split the CMA has already proposed.

The CMA launched its review of the audit market in October, following a torrent of criticism of the profession and its regulator after the collapse of construction group Carillion in January 2018 as well as other high-profile corporate failures.
