MPs urge Treasury to review splitting up the FCA

A UK parliamentary report has called for the Treasury to consider splitting up the Financial Conduct Authority, a move which would deprive the key banking regulator of its enforcement capabilities and would significantly alter the regulatory landscape.

The recommendation is part of a review from the influential Treasury Select Committee, chaired by Conservative MP Andrew Tyrie, into the regulatory response to the collapse of HBOS in 2009.
