MSCI adds Chinese stocks to key benchmarks

Chinese stocks are to be included in a leading emerging markets benchmark for the first time, an important step in opening up the country's huge equities market to international investors.

In a statement today, the index provider MSCI said that, from June 2018, Chinese A shares will be included in its Emerging Markets Index and ACWI Index. A total of 222 large-cap Chinese stocks will be added.
