NAPF backs changes on soft commissions

The National Association of Pension Funds and the Fund Managers' Association have welcomed the UK government's statement that it will consider a range of means to make transaction costs accountable.

Transaction costs are a significant part of pension scheme expenses but few trustees are aware of them, so little is done to control them. This issue was raised in March by Paul Myners in his report on institutional investment.
