NatWest shareholders try to avoid split

A secret pact is being explored by NatWest's big shareholders to ensure that a split vote does not allow the bank to escape its Scottish predators, reports The Guradian.

While difficult to instigate, the private conversations appear to be an alternative route to pressuring Sir David Rowland, chairman and chief executive of NatWest, to recommend to his board to agree to a takeover.
