Nervous welcome for FSA regime

The arrival of the tough new regulatory framework is causing widespread concern.

The City of London has become a distinctly more dangerous place to do business this week. Not only because of the inebriated victims of office parties stalking the streets at dusk, but because on Saturday the Financial Services Authority (FSA) finally assumed its full regulatory powers.

The fear is that it will come down hard on individuals who stray into the dark realms of regulatory non-compliance, or committing the new offence of market abuse.
