New guidelines tackle misuse of information in credit market

Credit and derivative market players will soon be issued with a new set of guidelines that are designed to help them avoid misusing privileged information.

The initiative, by the newly formed Joint Market Practices Forum, a group of financial markets trade associations, will tackle problems that could arise when banks use credit derivatives or similar instruments to hedge out risk when they are also privy to material non-public information.
