New head of DeAM faces early problems

Tom Hughes, the new chief executive of Deutsche Asset Management (DeAM), is already facing pressure to demonstrate that he can hold together disaffected senior management and prove himself as a long-term replacement for Mike Philipp - after less than a week in the job.

Senior sources at DeAM said last week that Philipp's departure and Hughes' appointment will not be the end of the long-running problems for the firm in defining its structure and strategy.
