New hospitality group formed to discuss reopening pubs and restaurants after lockdown

Greater London Authority, police chiefs and hospitality sector discuss plans for easing Covid-19 restrictions, expected this week

Hospitality sector experts have grouped together to try to work out how pubs, bars and restaurants might reopen, as the UK emerges from its coronavirus lockdown.

The National Exit Strategy Advice and Response Team for the licensed hospitality and entertainment industries — or Nexstart — brings together authorities such as the Greater London Authority, the national police chiefs’ council and representatives from the sector, which has been particularly hard-hit by measures to limit the spread of the virus. Its first meeting took place on 27 April, and its discussions are ongoing.
