Few sectors favour buzzwords, strategy reviews, flow charts and PowerPoint presentations as much as banking. It suits, then, that former McKinsey & Co partners keep landing top jobs at major lenders.

Take Charlie Nunn, head of HSBC's wealth and personal banking division, who was just named chief executive of Lloyds Banking Group ahead of what is expected to be another turbulent period for the UK lender. Before HSBC, Nunn spent five years as a senior partner at McKinsey.
