The new head of the London Stock Exchange has said he is eyeing up opportunities for growth, which could include more takeovers.

David Schwimmer, the former Goldman Sachs executive who took over at the exchange this week, said in a statement on Thursday: "I am excited by the many opportunities for further growth, both organically and inorganically, as we continue to execute and develop the business."
