When stocks are going nowhere fast, funds that track the market do not seem quite as attractive.

Exchange traded funds drew in record-breaking flows as the stock market kept hitting record highs. But as the S&P 500 has struggled to climb beyond its January peak, stock ETFs saw outflows of $7.2bn in June, according to Deutsche Bank.
