A surge in revenues from M&A advisory work has led top New York law firms to more than double the annual bonuses paid to some associates.

First-year lawyers at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, New York's second largest law firm, are in line for a $30,000 (€23,000) bonus with senior associates receiving up to $60,000.
