New York pension fund puts $500m in private equity

The $155bn (€108bn) New York state pension fund is doubling its investment in small private equity funds, after the asset class brought in more than twice the rate of returns of the overall portfolio last year.

The New York State Common Retirement Fund is increasing its asset allocation to emerging private equity managers, with a focus on women- and minority-owned firms, to $1bn over several years.
