Philip Barker, head of engineering, at Cavendish Corporate Finance has been promoted to director of mergers and acquisitions at the UK-based boutique.

Barker will retain his role as head of engineering. He joined the firm in 1999, and has worked on deals including the sale of DaimlerChrysler's railway wheels business, and on the sale of Vivendi Universal of France's medical equipment group of businesses. He has also worked for European private equity firms 3i and Cinven.
