Alan Pickering, a partner at Watson Wyatt and a former chairman of the National Association of Pension Funds, has been named as a non-executive director of the new UK Pensions Regulator.

The Department for Work and Pensions said Laurie Edmans, Chris Swinson, Caroline Thomson and Roger Walsom had also been appointed.
