Three banks continue to dominate as bookrunners of new issuance in the European loan markets, according to the latest figures from Dealogic, the research firm.
JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank and Citigroup come in at first, second and third place respectively in the league tables for running new European loans deals so far this year, Dealogic said. It said the positions are unchanged since the third quarter. JP Morgan has arranged 79 new loans worth nearly $44bn (€49bn) this year so far, as at the end of October. Both Deutsche Bank and Citigroup have arranged more deals than JP Morgan, but of smaller value. Dealogic says issuance volumes are down to 69% of their levels at the same time last year. It also said that the fact that deals were of a smaller size showed banks were spreading their risk.
