News in brief: Veronis Suhler Stevenson hires Antzis

Veronis Suhler Stevenson, the US media-focused merchant bank, has hired Errol Antzis as a managing director and principal with the firm's private equity affiliate, VS&A Communications Partners.

Antzis joins from GE Capital, where he was a managing director and head of the structured finance group's media and entertainment team. Jeffrey Stevenson, co-chief executive of Veronis Suhler Stevenson and president and managing partner of VS&A Communications Partners, said that Antzis will help source and structure financings for new fund investments as well as add-on investments and transactions involving existing portfolio companies. In October 2001 VS&A Communications Partners completed its second deal since it launched a UK affiliate office in 2000, using funds from its $1bn (€1.1bn) third fund. About a quarter of the $1bn fund is earmarked for Europe, although the UK office has not rushed to spend it.
