News in brief: Villanova and Gartmore name new US investment chief

Villanova Capital and Gartmore Investment Management, both part of Nationwide Mutual Insurance, have hired Young Chin as chief investment officer for their US business.

Chin is joining from Brown Brothers Harriman where he was in charge of stock research and portfolio management. He will be based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The appointment signals a step towards greater international co-operation, the two firms said. Villanova has $25bn (€27.2bn) in assets under management while Gartmore manages $69bn.
