Worldpay founder Nick Ogden and 167 small business lenders are calling on the Treasury to provide financial backing to a new scheme that would quickly get cash to businesses struggling to get access to the government’s pandemic loan schemes.

Ogden, who now runs the fintech firm ClearBank, is seeking £5bn in government backing for the project which would see quicker processing of loans, which can be applied for online.
