The UK parliament has chosen the first female leader of the influential Treasury Select Committee, electing the pro-Europe former City minister Nicky Morgan to the role.

Morgan, who was competing with five other Conservative ministers for chairmanship of the powerful committee, succeeds Andrew Tyrie.
