Nicky Morgan vows to take hedge fund polling probe to FCA

Treasury Committee chair's concerns stem from hedge funds' use of private polls to get an edge in the 2016 Brexit referendum

The chair of UK's influential Treasury Committee has vowed to take her investigation into hedge funds’ use of private polling data to the Financial Conduct Authority, following a “disappointing” response from the British Polling Council.

Nicky Morgan is concerned that pollsters make market-sensitive data, such as exit polls taken on the day of voting, available to hedge funds before it can legally be made available to the public — thereby giving them a “trading advantage”.
