Insurance provider Zurich UK Life has switched asset managers for a $1bn Japanese equities mandate, amid a surge in interest in Japan as it eases monetary policy to kick start its economy.

Zurich UK Life has redeemed the $1bn mandate from Threadneedle Investments and awarded it to Japan specialist Nikko Asset Managementt, according to a person familiar with the situation.
