‘No corners cut’ in approval of Pfizer’s Covid-19 shot, says regulator boss

UK hopes to offer vaccine to 90-99% of those at risk of dying from Covid-19 in first phase of programme

The head of the UK regulator that approved Pfizer and BioNTech’s covid-19 vaccine said “no corners had been cut” in testing its safety.

"This vaccine has only been approved because those strict tests have been done and complied with and everyone can be absolutely confident that no corners whatsoever have been cut," Dr June Raine, head of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), told a press conference.
