Nomura has cut back nearly 20 employees from its London-based equity research division, including much of its management team, Financial News has learned, as the Japanese bank continues a shake-up of its equities business.

Nomura has effectively disbanded the equity research teams covering the utilities, pharmaceuticals, and medical technology sectors, according to people familiar with the situation, while cuts have also been made to the food retail and banks teams.
