Nomura promotes 14 to MD weeks after slashing London jobs

Nomura is in the midst of scaling back its wholesale banking operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Nomura has promoted 14 people to managing director across its banking and trading teams in Europe just weeks after making extensive job cuts to its wholesale business in London.

The Japanese bank announced its new managing directors earlier in May, with the majority of those promoted (43%) coming from its traditional investment banking teams. A further 30% work in sales and trading, with the remainder in support roles.
