Nomura has appointed a senior trader from Citigroup to run its sales and trading business in Europe, which has been on a "tough journey" over the past year but is looking at making fresh hires. 

The Japanese bank has hired Fred Jallot as head of its global markets division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to people familiar with the matter. He will join in the summer, one of the people said.
