The early-stage merger talks between Swedish telecoms company Telia and Finnish rival Sonera will give their advisers a signficant boost if they evolve into a multi-billion euro deal.

UBS Warburg is advising the Swedish government, Deutsche Bank is working for the Finnish government, Goldman Sachs is Sonera's financial adviser, and Carnegie, the Nordic investment bank, is working for Telia.
