Northern Trust Global Investments, the London-based asset manager, has appointed a former UK manager of Instinet, the electronic broker, to run its European transition management operations.

Simon Hutchinson, who was head of UK clients and portfolio trading at Instinet, joins Northern Trust as strategist for transition management in Europe and his role will be to manage the business in London and across Europe.
