Norway hires economists to rule on private equity plans

Norway's finance ministry has appointed two economists to help it decide whether to add a private equity allocation to the remit of Norway's giant sovereign wealth fund.

The two-man expert group tasked with assessing whether the Government Pension Fund Global should venture into private equity consists of Trond Døskeland, an associate professor at the Norwegian School of Economics, and Per Strömberg of the Stockholm School of Economics, the finance ministry announced. They will submit a report on the risks and rewards of the asset class in December.
