Norwegian sovereign fund blacklists G4S on human rights fears

UK security group takes a reputational blow over its business in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates

The $1.1tn Norwegian Government Pension Fund has said it will drop its holdings in G4S, the UK security company, due to an “unacceptable risk that the company contributes to human rights violations”.

The fund’s decision follows a recommendation by its ethics council in April, based on the terms under which G4S employs migrant workers from the Indian subcontinent in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
