A not-so-happy birthday for Dodd-Frank

Dodd Frank celebrates its first birthday today, but there is little to revel in as missed deadlines continue to mount up

July was supposed to be a month of celebration for the Dodd-Frank Act as the regulatory bill celebrated its first birthday – but missed deadlines have ballooned and the total cost of implementation is set to hit $1.25bn by 2012.

With much fanfare, President Obama signed the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act exactly one year ago. Obama said: "these reforms represent the strongest consumer financial protections in history."
