Numis Securities is building a team of bankers dedicated to helping companies raise private money, joining rivals in an attempt to counter the slump in initial public offerings in London.

Numis, best known as an adviser to UK companies looking to list new shares, has hired David Kelnar as a managing director to lead a unit working with high-growth companies that instead want to raise funds from private investors.
